Smokey Eye look in Make Up Class

So, I recently I have done 2 make up courses and got Diploma's for them. A Make up course and a Bridal Make up course.
I have really enjoyed doing them and I am hoping to soon do another make up course to gain an NVQ qualification and hopefully go onto a career as a make up artist in a shop or salon or maybe even my own little business.

The classes were really exciting and fun. Especially the practical bits where I got to work with the make up on people. I have learnt that it is harder doing make up on others rather than myself. But practice is key!
On the Bridal make up course I had to bring a model. So, I brought my sister in law and I had to do 3 looks on her.

One of the looks I did was a smokey eye look. I was mostly proud of this look and the teacher commented a lot on it. Was definitely a proud moment. Below is a photo of my sister in law with the smokey eye look I did for her in the class.

A simple smokey look. Started of with putting some black eyeliner on the lid and smoking it out. Then adding the lovely green colour on top and more blending. Blending is key! And the highlight on the brow bone. Nude lips, and you are ready to go ;)

I am really excited about this possible career change. This year I really want to get out of my current food job and into another fun job that I enjoy. Just got to keep at it and keep working hard to reach my goals.

Have a great week everyone :)

Nails of the Day - Polka Dots!

Why hello there!

It is so rare that I get to do my nails because of work. But today is my off day so I decided to do my nails last night and try out a polka dot look!

It's a really simple and easy nail art look to do. I used Barry M's Peach Melba and NYX Cosmetics, Matte White nail polish for this look. I used a dotting tool for the dots, but even a tooth pick would help you create the dots if you don't have the tool.

It's my first time doing a polka dot look like this. I think the polka dots create a cute and fun look to your nails :)

Product Rediscovery! e.l.f Cosmetics Eyeshadow Quad

Hey there ladies!

You know those times where you just forget about a certain product or you're just looking through your eye shadows and deciding what to wear for the day.

Then ... BAM!

You find something that you have not worn in a long time and quickly realise how good it actually is.
I rediscovered my e.l.f Cosmetics Eyeshadow Quad in the shade, Butternut.

The colours of this quad are really nice and neutral shades to wear. I always use the top left colour all over my eye lid and the top right colour I use to blend into the crease. It just blends together so well and looks really good.

The reason that I bought this in the first place was to find some natural colours to wear. Then I bought the Naked 2 Palette from Urban Decay and I think maybe that's where I started to forget about this one. The eyeshadow lasts quite awhile on the lids, as long as you are wearing a good primer. I wear eye primer every day anyways. It's stuck onto my routine.

As we buy more make up for ourselves, we start getting a pretty huge collection of make up and can sometimes forget about what we have. I know my collection has grown a lot. I guess this is one of the reasons why I want to start a YouTube channel. To do make up tutorials and have fun with the colours that I have.

Made any of your own rediscoveries lately? ;)

Hope you're all having a good week!

March 2013 Glossybox :)

Good afternoon all!
It's very rare where I get to work on a blog post during the day because of work. But today I start work a bit later so this gives me the perfect time to blog a little ;)

Today's post will be on the March edition of Glossybox! That time of the month where we all get a little present through the door.

I am starting to love their themed boxes. I just think it's a really nice touch and makes the box even more interesting. This month's box is all about "City Chic". It also comes with a little booklet called "My little travelling book". Which is so cute. The little booklet contains information of some of the best beauty and fashion countries and their hot spots within the countries. There are also some stickers inside the little booklet, I might put some of them on my laptop :)

Now, on to the products!

Elizabeth Arden
Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Fragrance free (7ml)

Full Size: £25 for 50ml

A cute mini sized sample of this cream. This is basically a moisturiser for your skin to protect and soothe your skin. A little surprised at the colour of this cream! Creams are usually white right? But this one is an orange colour. Has a sweet smell to it. Not overpowering.

Nails Inc
Shade: St Jame's (4ml)

Full size: £11 for 10ml

Can't go wrong with a nice red nail polish. Generous sample, enough to get a good feel for the product. I have never tried a polish from this brand before, so it will be interesting to find out if it's any good :)

Juicy Couture
Couture LaLa (1.5ml)

Full Size: £63 for 100ml

This scent is quiet nice. To me, it smells like it has hints of fruit and flowers. I'm not very good with describing scents. But the product says it has mandarin and white florals. There we go. Fruits and flowers!

Tresemme
Tresemme Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray (100ml)

Full Size: £4.69 for 500ml

As we all know by now, Tresemme is a very well known hair company. So I think this would be a good product. Although, I don't generally use hair spray because I am not adventurous with my hair and never try out new hairstyles. Because I'm not so good with it lol. But when I do wear my hair up in a bun and ready to go out, then I use hairspray.

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics
Lip Blush (2.5g)

Full Size: £12 for 2.5g

This is the last product from this month's box and it's my favourite one! The only full sized product in the box, which is my favourite product from all 5 items. This is usually £12 so its already worth what I paid for this box. I have not heard of this cosmetics company, but I love their name! It's sounds cute and fun.
This is quite moisturizing and smooth when applying. It does leave a stain for awhile which is good. I don't usually wear red lipstick, but I think I see myself wearing this more often.

There's me trying out the red lips!

There is this month's box. Overall, I am happy with it because I found a good product within the bunch that I like, which is the Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush :)

What did you all get in your box?

Review: Maybelline the Rocket Volum' Express Mascara

Hey there everyone :)

This post will be about a mascara that has probably already been reviewed a couple times before. But for those who have not heard or seen anything on this mascara, then I hope this helps! :)

It's one of the latest mascara's from Maybelline!
Maybelline the Rocket Volum' Express.

Maybelline has an excellent range of mascaras and I am definitely a fan of their mascara range! This one does not disappoint either :)

The packaging is a nice blue/purple colour, which makes it easy to spot within your make up collection. Quiet simliar packaging to all their other mascaras except that the brush applicators are different, ofcourse :)

With this one, it has a very strong and hard brush applicator. Feels like plastic or rubber. However, this mascara provides my lashes with a lot of volume without using an eye lash curler. I always forget to use my eye lash curler. Must still get used to that little habit!

This mascara does add both length and volume to my lashes which I love. The texture is also good and does not dry up too quickly which gives you some time to add more coats. I always add a bunch of coats to get a good amount of volume ;)

The only thing I don't like about this plastic applicator is that sometimes I poke myself in the eye because of how hard the plastic applicator is. I think I prefer other bristle type applicators. Maybe that's just me! That's how it was like when I first started using it, I'm okay now with it.

But this type of brush does have it's advantages. For example, because of it's strong durability, it makes it easy for the mascara to evenly apply to the lashes and get hold of the lashes nicely without clumping. It also grips the lashes well when applying. I use it everyday and it stays put on your lashes for the whole day.

Overall, I would say that I am happy with this mascara :)

For those who were contemplating on whether or not to buy this mascara, then I hope this little review helped a little. If you have any questions then please feel free to drop a comment.
